Po455 code-anything to look for? (EVAP LEAK)
1998 Mazda Protege with 1.8L, Manual Tranny. Car has thrown a PO455 code for a month or two now (Large EVAP Leak). I had a broken EGR tube and replaced that but apparently it was unrelated.
Anything common to look for on these cars as far as leaks? Gas cap looks fine. I don't even know where the charcoal canister is on these cars. If anyone can help me out it would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Nick |
did you erase the code when you changed that hose?

Yea I did, multiple times. In hindsight the EGR has nothing to do with the EVAP system so I'm not sure why I thought it was related. I did a visual test and everything looked ok (nothing obviously cracked)....Im gonna test the purge solenoid on the firewall and see if maybe it is stuck open. If it was actually a large leak in the line somewhere I figure I would have smelled it by now...but if the solenoid is stuck open it would just be leaking into the manifold. We shall see.

Could be a bad fuel cap? That's one of the most common, easiest to fix problem w/the evap system in modern cars. |
