P0455 check engine light code.... please help
1 Attachment(s)
My check engine light came on yet again and this time the code is p0455. Which after research they sqy the common issue is the gas cap. So I bought a new one and the code came back. No clue where to start now, but as I was getting gas the other day I noticed that the metal thing that swings open when the pump goes in is missing. So I wonder could that be why the code is on and if so can that piece be replaced easily? Ive attached a photo of the metal thing since I have no idea what its called 😊

you mean the flap the get pushed away with the nozzle?
The P0455 indicates a "large EVAP leak". It would be a good idea to inspect all the EVAP lines and canister and so on. I am thinking that the missing flap should not cause a leak itself because the seal is provided by the gas cap. But I could be wrong. The flap's job is to minimize evaporation when you pull off the gas cap for fueling. A proper leak test will find the problem quickly. |
Yes, the flap that is pushed away with the nozzle. Does it have a part name?
How would you do a leak test? Is there any special kinds of tools needed for this? Thanks for the help. |
There are some Youtube videos on how to do a test. I would start with a visual inspection.
I don't know if that flap has a special name. |
