No Power Up Hills

I just had a tune up, transmission fluid and filter change, timing belt and water pump. They also put in an additive to clean the fuel system. Today I experienced the same issue that I had before the service. I go up hills and I cant get past 40 MPH while the RPMS gets up around 4000 sometimes 5000. Tell me this isnt a torque converter. The check engine light isnt coming on.

O I forgot to mention that I have a 2000 ES protege

It doesn't sound like the torque converter. Is the trans downshifting? Have you tried manually downshifting it? Does it shift normally?

The trans isnt downshifting when I am climbing a hill. I took a video of it this morning. How do I post it?

sounds like a clogged cat converter

I just got a new cat in November. Should I take it back to the shop.

I dunno, if the rpm's get to 5000 it is not likely the converter. Then again i can't drive it so it's in the realm of possibility.

mdooley6985 04-13-2015 11:37 AM

Today the RPMs didnt even get up to 5000. They stayed 3500-4000 range. MPH didnt get above 40.

Surely the shop that just took your money will give you a diagnosis?

mdooley6985 04-13-2015 12:45 PM

Ya they will. For $50.
