Same-ish problem.

1999 Mazda Protege LX 1.6L auto tranny.

• Always had to replace battery every 2 years or so.
• 10 days ago had car go into "limp mode" & charging light came on.
• Checked voltage and was at 17.5 V.
• Went down to 11.7V and car went into gear OK.
• Charge light is on now about 90% of time. 11.7 V.
• When charge light goes off V @ 13.5 to 14.1 - charging.
• No real circumstance when charge light goes off.
• New battery.
• Replaced alternator 2 days after initial incident.
• Cleaned main grounds @ engine & fender.
• Continuity looks good.

So what is next? What should I look for. ECU? Hard to find. Anyone ever use one of the ECU reprogramming services like Flagship One? If so, which is recommended. $150 for a reflashed ECU seems good.
