Need help with my protege MP3 edition
Ok i bought an 01 protege mp3 edition with a blown motor (hole the size of a softball in the block), so i was told you can put a regular protege motor in but somethings have to be changed. Is this true, and if so what exactly do i need to swap over?

RE: Need help with my protege MP3 edition
you could just swap a short block over from a regular protege. the MP3's aren't that much different, only from the head up. the block, crank, pistons, and rods are all the same. is it turbo or N/A. i have been looking for a turbo MP3.

n/a , i wanna change the whole thing over because the reason the original block blew was due to oil starving, so i doubt the head would be a good idea to swap over. is the head different in anyway? is the tuning/pcm different?

here you go. http://www.speedcircuit.net/product_...d84debd3035d2e
there will be a complete replacement for the stock motor. here is the one that i recommend. http://www.speedcircuit.net/product_...d84debd3035d2e the first one will be a complete, reliable replacement. the second one will be a complete, bad-ass, turbo-ready motor |

RE: Need help with my protege MP3 edition
HI, I was poking through the questions and I noticed yours. I have a 01 protege MP3 myself. You can swap a regular protege motor into it but it is a smaller engine and has about 10 HP less than the oem 2.0L. You'll need a different ecu, engine harness, and a few mounts might be different. And of course theres always those suprises like the clutch cable not reaching, engine level, ect. I have one question for you though...do you know how the motor blew or how many miles it had on it?
