mazda protege 2000 1.6l fuel filter discovered at the left rear under the car?

hey guys i was poking under my car today at the left rear of the car right near the left rear tire underneath the car i have discovered a filter of some kind could this be the fuel filter or another kind of filter?

I don't know, but you could follow the lines to see where they come from and where they go to.

Well i went to the junkyard today and found a 99 protege with the same filter and i took it off and it smelled like gas inside this filter, but the filter has no part number or brand name. I try look online and can't seem to find anything about this filter.

It's a vapor canister for fuel vapors as part of the emission system. The shiny silver looking thing is a pressure relief valve. You should not have to replace the canister.
