Lead foot daughter fix?

I bought a 93 protege dx for my 18y.o. daughter a few months ago.
She came home with a speeding ticket (76 in a 45!!!!!!)
Needless to say , that was the end of driving for a while.
My question is , does anyone make a speed governor for this race car of hers?
Any help appreciated.
Mike

How much was the speeding ticket and insurance increase and how much does she make a month? That would be a fairly good speed governor in itself.:D

The ticket could cost her $240.00, 5 points, and possible 10 to 90 day suspension.
Court is Feb. 13 in wantage nj
This child is in high school and I'd like to see her live past 18

They do make tracking devices that can log where the car is and how fast it's going (GPS based.) It's not cheap, but you could definitely wield the hand of Big Brother that way.

I assume she is having to pay for the ticket and the increase in insurance premiums.

You are lucky the car did not get towed and impounded for that speed!. I have seen other ppl in TX get their car towed. I've heard law enforcement can do this for anything over 20mph above the speed limit.

As mentioned above there are GPS monitors, but will not interact with the vehicle computer. The ones I have seen must be on OBDII vehicles (96 and newer). It will give vehicles speed, position, and so on in real time.

I think that the gps tracker is out of my league. If nothing else , I can take her car up to 55m.h.p. and set the throttle to control the rpm's . Have to see what the that "chain"
looking linkage will adjust to . Perhaps theres a screw for a throttle stop.
Eitherway , this car will slow down or I get rid of it for one I can "chip down ?"
I don't want to be big brother , she's a good kid . But driving like that will get her killed.
Court is on feb. 13th , so we'll see what happens.
And , Yes , she is paying for this . for the next 3 yrs. on her lic. as well as insurance premium .

You'd hate to limit the throttle response of the car and have her need it sometime though (emergency situations do arise where you would want to speed up real quick.)

I'd lay it down for her like this. She is footing the bill for the ticket and the increased insurance costs for the full 3 years it's on record. If she gets 1 more ticket, then the car gets sold and she learns how to use public transportation.

Some alarm systems have a valet function that would reduce the available throttle (to prevent them from taking a Corvette for a joyride.) You may want to call around to local stereo shops that do alarm installs.

Oh yeah, make her pay for the alarm too.

LOL

cut a small wood wedge (like a door stop)

have them drill it under the accel. pedal

make sure the "angle" of the wedge doesn't alow the pedal to be pressed more then the max speed limit!

problem solved...lmao

That would work fine for an acceleration problem but with even only 1/2 throttle being locked out you can still obtain speeds outside the limits. Give me a 2 mile stretch and I could reach way over speed limit at 1/2 throttle.

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND PUTTING THIS ON YOUR CAR
