My motor gave out on me a couple days ago. I have a 2000 protege ES 5 speed. I love my daily, and need some help with finding a motor! Please get up with me if you are aware of a decent motor i can use. I just need the block and would rather have a head on it.

I live in olathe Kansas. I am looking to spend $300-$800 on this motor replacement.

Any thing i sould know about this motor replacment job? like should i pull the trans out with the motor, or can i seporate them and just pull the motor?

And does anyone have suggestions on where to buy parts for the BJ protege? or good protege sites in general? I feel it is safe to assume the protege community wont be as stonge as my rx7 and miata community, I am just hoping to get a little guidence on how to maneuver my way through the proteges world.
