General advice p0771
 

I recently bought a 2002 Mazda protege, was throwing a p0771 code . Shift solenoid. So I finally got it apart, and noticed a badly damaged solenoid ? I'm guessing someone else was inside it previous, due to have no idea how else it would look how it does. Lol like a dog chewed it. Anyways. I also noticed a wire is frayed . What's the best way to repair it. It's inside the tranny, obviously . I'm try not to replace whole harness just wire. Thanks for any advice.

update:
well hour later , after waiting for a response for a lil help on the wire situation, I decide to remove the "dog chewed solenoid " and wow I took it off and and with disbelief... the plastic solenoid piece is stuck inside ... basically solenoid if in two pieces . Again no idea how this is possible or what caused this, beside carelessness by who ever was in there previously . By the way car only has 109 ,000 miles . So I highly doubt this is wear and tear ? I don't even see how it's possible . Now time to figure out to get the rest of solenoid out .
