Default Fuel Leak rear near tire

Hi. I am new to this forum, but have already found it very helpful.

I have a protege with afuel leak (dripping) from a round (about 2-3 inch diameter), plastic "case" which is located just inside the rear tire on the driver side. It has a rubber hose running to it from the front and another exiting towards the back. Both have a clamp (tension type) (clamps may actually be quick release connectors). The rear hose runs to a cylinder that is about the size of a soup can (turned on it's side, running longwise front & back). The leak does not appear to be coming from another spot and running down the hose.

I'm not able to name the round plastic part as the diagram (from ugly.net)shows it, but does not name the part.

I'm hoping the repair may be as simple as replacing some hose or this part (maybe it has a crack in it?) Any help would be appreciated!

Default RE: Fuel Leak rear near tire

Section 1-14 of that manual on Ugly.net goes over the fuel system and how to inspect it. However, if you are not real comfortable dealing with high pressure fuel systems, I would highly recommend having a pro do it. More than likely it is a few small dollar parts, and a few hours of a tech's labor could possibly save you doing more damage. That manual has alot of warnings that should be heeded if you decide to tackle it yourself. Also, download each section and copy it to your hard drive. It is a complete copy of the shop manual that would cost you $150 to purchase.
