E brake question?
Hey guys, Brand new to the site and brand new with my mazda protege 5.
i just did my brakes (front and rear calipers, rotors and pads). Everything went smooth like butter. i swapped the e brake cable and brackets to the new calipers. My new brakes work great, but I have zero e brake? Is it normal to have to re-ajust that much? Thanks |
Did you de-adjust the cable first?
Did you wind back the caliper pistons? Did you line up the locator pins of the pads with the indent on the piston? Did you go for a good drive & bed in the pads? Did you pump the brake pedal 50 times before adjusting the cable? |

Did you pump the brake pedal 50 times before adjusting the cable? Hey there,I did the brakes about 3 months ago, so I can’t fully remeber exactly what I did or didn’t do with the e brake. If I remeber correctly all I did was remove the ends of the cable from the bracket that comes off the calipers, in order to put new calipers on. I hooked everything back up and no e brake at all. Judging by your 4 questions I missed a step. I’ve been running without the e brake for now because I just haven’t had time to trouble shoot where I went wrong. Where do you think I should start first? Appreciate you response, cheers. |
