Default Does My Engine Have Hydraulic Valve Lash?

hi Folks

My car is a 2003 model Mazda 323 with a 1.8 Litre "FP" engine (double overhead cam).

I recently had my local dealer replace the timing belt.

I asked that they check the valve clearances while the valve cover was off. They told me that this model has hydraulic valve lash and does not need any valve clearance check. Is this correct?

My owners booklet specifies that the valve clearance should be checked every 100,000 kilometres.

Thank you for your responses.

As far as I am aware you have hydraulic lifters. I can find service information for mechanical lifter for that year Mazda USA model ? I also can only see a listing for replacement hydraulic lifters as well the cams are only for hydraulic lifters.
