Dimming lights on launch (and rough idle)

Hey I have a quick question guys, My 91Protege is pretty old, but runs amazingly, the car has no problems at all in terms of engine functionality. Except the one thing I've noticed (mainly during the night) was whenver I launch the car even gently while releasing the clutch pedal, the car's lights (Dash lights, Head lights) tend to dim a little upon launch, probably mainly because the engine rev drops at about 500-400 rpm before the car starts moving. I'd even have the occasional rough engine idle on stills which also dim the lights evey now and then. Youthink it could be the spark plugs?I'm having my Sparks and plug wires changed for performance ones.

Fairly common and usually normal condition Ominous. Protege's always tended to have dimming and brightening of the lights. Most complain of headlights getting brighter when reving engine on accel. Not a problem with plugs or wires. Would not be a bad idea to get the battery and alternator output checked if you are concerned. Many parts stores will do this free of charge in hopes of selling you a part so be a little wary.

i agree on the alternator thing. and on the fact that all proteges do that. if you are going to be doing extensive work to the car, you should go ahead and spend the money and get a good alternator.
