Cracked Shifter Display

I have a rather unique issue...it's purely cosmetic, so not a big deal, but annoying. I have an '03 Protege LX and for some reason, the plastic covering over the P, R, N, D, etc indicator that lights up next to the shifter has cracked in multiple places. I live in Georgia, so I'm not exactly sure what extreme temperature differences there were to cause this, since it's pretty much warm all the time. Anyway, if anyone has any advice on how I can go about taking the covering out or taking the housing off I would appreciate it. Also, where would I find a replacement for this? It's kind of an obscure part I would imagine.

Thanks!

Not at all unique mcoplin. Mazda had to replace so many console assemblies under warranty for this lens cracking that they made it a separate service part available for around $15. Will see if I can locate that part number a some pics for replacement.

Thanks, I'd appreciate it! I did manage to get the housing off pretty easily -- just pull up on the cup holders and slide the whole panel off. So now I guess I just need to find a way to get that part online without having to use the dealership :)

Replacement clear lens is part #BL8H-64-353. You will still need to get thru Mazda dealer as they are only supplier that I know of but discount prices are available at www.onlinemazdaparts.com. They show retail of $12.48.
