Cool me off..
 

My mazda Protege 1990 suffer over heat last night in traffic and I notice that the radiador fan is not working, today I tested the cooling fan with direct 12 volts connection and it's working fine, now I need to know from where I should begin to search for the problem. Any help will appreciate.

Did you check the fuse?

I do check the fuse box under engine compartment and also pasenger comparment, buy do not find any fuse for cooling fan! where is it located?:eek:

There is two fuses, one labeled "cooling fan" that is a 30A on the underhood fusebox. And one labeled "engine" that is a 15A on the underdash fusebox. Is your car an auto or manual transmission? I have the wiring diagrams for both.

There are no label on the underhood fusebox, maybe already washoff. The 15A on the underdask fusebox is OK. My car is manual transmission.[&:]

You should be able to test system operation by simply disconnecting the water thermoswitch for the cooling fan and shorting the wire to engine ground with ignition key in "run" position. This sensor should be located on the thermostat housing. See first pic below.Single wire to it with wire color Black w/ Green stripe. If fan comes on when wire grounded then have either poor connection at switch or bad switch. If fan does not come on then Will probably be the blown 30A fuse of bad relay. Pic of both below. These are from a 91 323 but should be very similar.

This is the thermoswitch for cooling fan. Disconnect and ground to engine.

30A cooling fan fuse is on the far left. Relay is in the middle. Should hear and feel a click noise from this when making and breaking the ground for the thermoswitch.

Thanks very much for the fotos and the fuse location, effectively the temperature sensor is broken, I found a cron sensor at $11, now it is working as it should be. Attach the photo of the broken sensor. Thanks again.
