I am looking at buying a 03 mazdaspeed protege but the one i found has a very weird anomily. It does not have a turbo.....was there ever one that came with out a turbo? and id so where can i find more info on it. I know this may seem stupid to a mazda person but i am not knowledgeable on mazdas ingeneral. also what would be some of the reasons for a turbo to me taken off this car, b/c thats what the seller said must have happened b/c the car fax is clean.

Never a mazdaspeed protege without a turbo. They were all turbocharged from the factory, so it's either not a mazdaspeed or it was stripped of everything that makes it a mazdaspeed. Don't buy it either way.

 

car could have possibly blown the motor due to poor tuning or boosting too much. So they could have put a motor from a regular protege back in without the turbo setup to get the car back on the road asap. That is the most logical reason and happens more than you think. There may be other reasons but this is the only reason I can think of that makes the most sense. By the way, I don't see the car in the "used" section at all.
