hey new to the forum...
have a 2001 protege, 5spd. started it at work the other day and it sounded fine at first. about 30 sec later it went from its usual 2000 rpm cold start idle (which drops to 750 within about 3min) to about 2700 rpm for about 30 sec then went to normal. when i was turning out the drive way the check engine light went on. car drives fine. the engine light was on before but my buddie who i bought the car off of was almost certain it wasthe broken engine mount.the engine mount was fixed and we cleared the computer. that was about 2 weeks ago now the engine light is back and i have no idea why. it drives fine and gets its usual gas mileage. other then the odd high rpm cold start and engine light. it runs just fine at red lights and when the ac is on. any suggestions on whats going on?
