2001 mazda protege question for anyone who can help !
 

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please feel free to let me know ! I took it to the shop they did a bunch of tests and checked all of the hoses, they cant figure out what's wrong with it. the mechanic thinks its the throttle position sensor. when it first started doing this it would never stall. now its stalling(while in park) so its kind of starting to worry me. keep in mind I'm not stepping on the gas or touching anything. this is a video of it after sitting in park for 5 hours.

Possibly a dirty throttlebody/vacuum leak/IAC valve/dirty MAF hotwire. A TPS would likely set a check engine light immediately. It sounds like it runs smooth so grab some throttlebody cleaner and MAF cleaner from a parts store and start cleaning. It is very simple stuff. You can locate a vacuum leak by spraying a flammable carb spray, etc around the intake/hoses at idle and if the idle changes when you spray in a certain spot you have located a vacuum leak.

that idle is a bit high. those rpm fluctuations are rather big. there are ways to test that tps using a ohms meter. even a cheap sears meter (around $20) works fine. the haynes book has the procedure. if you dont have the book, let me know and i will scan the pages and dend themn to you. i dont do it now because my home scanner went tits up.
