1998 Mazda Protege - Intermittent Turn Signals and Hazard Lights
Just recently my 98 Protege has developed a very strange issue with the turn signals and, as I discovered, the hazard lights.
At first, the turn signals would just click off while engaged. Of course, I thought this was just the steering wheel returning to neutral and disengaging them, but shortly after, I would flick the turn signal to on, hear it click once, or maybe twice, then silence, no signal, no clicking.
This happens very intermittently, so I assume its some wiring or contact issue, but I have no idea where to start. I discovered just recently that if the turn signals are acting up, the hazard lights will do not be able to be engaged either. When the turn signals do not work, it is for both left and right. Sometimes I will hear a click when they are turned on, sometimes not. There seems to be no difference in how quickly or slowly they are turned to the on position, and will now often go off after a few blinks, but mostly they just won't go on.
There are no other electrical issues that I'm aware of, no other lights or switches have any kind of problem. So, where do I start looking, and if I take it to a mechanic, what do I want to tell him to look at as a likely suspect for the problem?
Thanks!
Sean G.

Sounds like a fuse might blown or something? Try checking the fuse related to cornering lights/hazard lights. Either probably located under your dash by the steering column or hood.
Other then that I have no idea.
