Default 1988 323 blow off valve trouble!!

hey there i got a 1988 323 GT turbo, i have rebuilt the engine to hold 18psi yet i want to put a blow off valve on it because i would like to tend to the turbo now that the engine is finished, but there is a internal wastegate/ (BOV) on the turbo what should i do to install a BOV on the intake?, i am not very smart in the BOV department so please any feed back is good feed back

Does your car have an intercooler if so take it to a welder have a bov flange welded into the cold side pipe of the intercooler if it does not take one you can have a bov flange welded onto the inlet side of the turbo but you can't do it on the intake it will serve no purpose

sorry lol when i wrote that it was on my phone at work, on your turbo is it a by pass valve? cause my genesis came with that it has an internal wastegate and bypass valve on the turbo. if thats the case on your intercoooler on the cold side pipe going into the throttle body of your motor on that side of the intercooler you will want to put your bov there And if your going to be running 18psi you will want it on the cold side with that amount of pressure overtime you run the risk of bending the throttle plate with that pressure while its closed. When you have someone weld on the bov flange just remember most bov companies all have there own flange hks and synchronic use the same style of flange greddy has there own style and so on so when you have it welded on make sure its for the bov you want. as for the by pass valve you can leave it on which is what i did for my genesis becuase of the check engine light code. but with your car being an 88' it won't throw that code so you can order a block of plate to close the hole up, i would recommend the block off plate because when your throttle plate closes that air needs to release some how with it bounces back between the throttle plate and the compressor of the turbo most likely you will bend the turbine, its fine to have the by pass valve and a bov in your system but with 18 psi make sure you get that bov on the cold side to prevent this problem, honestly i've been told those bypass valve are only good till about 18psi then it will just blow apart under pressure so i would recommend the block off plate or keep both,im running both but its up to you.
