02 Protege Broken Seat Bracket

The front right bracket on my 2002 Protégé 5 just broke. I can move the front right corner of the bottom seat cushion up and down a couple of inches. The seat is still latched in place so it is more of an annoyance than anything else and I can still adjust it fore and aft. Any suggestions on an inexpensive solution?

Thanks!

Broken like in "it doesn't work anymore" or broken like in "it's in two pieces and you can't weld it?"

If it doesn't work anymore try "clean and lube".

If it is in two pieces frequent the junk yards.

Thanks Tan. The mounting point for the drivers seat front right corner is separated completely. I am going to try and take the seat out and get the joint welded and see if that will work. Any idea how hard it is to remove the seat? I want to make sure I allocate enough time to get this done since I won't be able to drive the car. Do you know if the passenger seat can be installed on the driver side?

I have taken seats out of cars on occasion. The easiest was the VW Beetle of the previous millennium: lift the locking lever and push the seat all the way forward until it drops off the tracks.
Ford Contour: disconnect the seatbelt electrical harness, remove 4 bolts and you are done. yours should work the same way.

BTW. I still can't exactly picture in my mind what is broken: The bracket which bolts to the floor or the part of the seat that slides on the bracket? I think you mean the bracket. I would probably look for a replacement bracket at a "Pull-A-Part" type junk yard. But welding is an option.

The seat bottom is height adjustable. The attach point to the height adjustment is what has broken free. The height adjustable brackets are what attach to the rails, which in turn bolt to the floor. At least that is my best guess without having taken the seat out yet.
