02 p5 smoking problem
I have an 02 protege5 2.0 dohc. With 180k, i've had this car for a little over a year and its been great, no issues at all, great fuel mileage.
It always smoked a little bit on start up but it was barely noticeable until a week ago when I replaced the plugs, pcv, cleaned my filter and put some gumout regan fuel injector cleaner in it.
since then it has smoked like crazy, its horrible I have never seen anything smoke like this.
It happens on start up and then for about a mile or 2 and then it pretty much quits.
So after this started I tested the compression and I have 120 in all 4 cylinders, the car runs and starts fine, I'm thinking its valve stem seals but i'm not sure.
Any advice on things to try? Also any advice on changing the valve stem seals? I've replaced the seals on other cars before but never on a car with dohc, I'd really like to avoid taking the head off if that's possible.
I might take a video of what its doing because I don't think words can describe the amount of smoke this thing is pouring out.
