02 P5 with rust around Protege5 emblem on trunk
 

Is this a common problem? The manager at the dealer said yes, but his word is hardly anything I'd trust. I'll obviously be getting this fixed and I don't intend to have the Protege5 emblem but back on afterward, but I was just wondering if this is a regular thing with P5s or if I got a freak vehicle that rusted because my emblem wasn't installed properly?

I just wanted to post that I have rust in the exact same spot on my 2002 Protege 5. Paint is bubbling underneath the
Protege5 emblem on driver side on hatch. Of course the paint in bubbling around both rear wheelwells with the most
rust from where the side bottom molding rubbed the paint in front of each wheel well.

Despite the paint bubbling in all these locations the dealer said untill I have a physical hole there is nothing the rust warranty
can do for me. In short, the body of the car last 4 years and the warranty will conver no rust that I see.

Just wanted to post incase any other P5 owners think their rust is unique.

my former pro 5 had no rust there. it was a 2002 that i lost today.

my 2002 has no issue like that either.however I bought it used and learn more every day.may have been painted after body kit installation.no rust here.you should see her.won a trophy on the third in fact
