Default Speed Sensor on transfercase

I have a 1997 Mazda B4000 4x4. Few weeks before X-Mas I had to change the gear on the VSS. The gear had broken teeth and it was causing the truck to buck at crusing speeds. Well this week the truck started to buck again, not as bad yet. So I put a new gear in it and it was worst, bucking every mile or so. Well i put the old gear back in it last night and now i can at least drive my 29 miles to work with it only happening once or twice. Did this ever happen to anyone else? Does anyone know what can be breaking the teeth on the gear?
