Default Newbi here

Hi There
Newbie here as a owner of a Mazda pick up.
1987 4x4 B2600 and was running fine. Now it won't start so i pulled the air filter off and poured a little gas in the carn and it started but died so i suspect either a plugged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump. I am trying to locate the fuel filter but haven't located it yet. I was just under the truck at the fuel tank but still no luck, Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I think I found it behind the tank above the rear axle, and its not plugged, so next i am on the search for the fuel pump, fuses and wiring so i can test it to see if its gone bad.

Any ideas as to where to start?\

Hello jes and glad to have you join.

Look under the truck just in front of the right rear wheel area. Should be right around that area.

Mazda trucks are known for having rust in the tank in their old age. A lot of times this rust will make it thought he screen past the filter and into the float bowl where it gets lodged in the main jets and cuts off fuel.

This is the best form to find out answers at.. Man the best thing to do is drop the gas tank, and examine it for how much fust you have. If its bad, you can get a new gas tank for around $128.00. I have recently bought one for my truck. I would suggest not trying to crank it anymore until you have cleared the problem. You can test the fuel pump to see if its gettin fire to it by a testing light. Or look at it while you have the tank dropped (make sure it is grounded to somthing)(and unplug the pump line to engine) and have an assistant try to crank the truck, if no fuel shoots out you are proably looking at a bad fuel pump.
