Need some help!
Hey all!
I'm new to this forum but I've actually owned my 91' B2200 for quite a while now. It was the car I learned to drive standard on and I'm going to be 19 in January. The Engine was rebuilt but who knows if it was a good rebuild. Whoever rebuilt it used silicone to try to make a valve cover gasket so it started leeking from there but I fixed that. As it is now..... Sometimes it will knock (like there isn't enough oil) really briefly when I first start it. Also it will burn oil (blue smoke) untill the engine heats up. Now from what I understand the problem is a specific type of oil filter and the valve seals. I just changed the oil yesterday and I got a Mazda oil filter from a dealership so hopefully the knocking when it starts up will stop. What are your opinions on this?

ok oil filter 101 not all oil filters are bafled aka if you turn them on thier side the oil leaks out. not certain brands like fram are overly bad to the point when you kill your motor in about 30 seconds you have no oil left in your filter. NOw in something like a small block chevy this doesnt matter because the filter hangs off the botton and gravity works quite well in these parts but on trucks like ours it hangs off the side. Now to counteract this oil filter makers have put baffles in thier filters. You can obtain one from mazda but i find those kind of pricey but also NAPA offers a great filter that is baffled. PN1334 when you get this filter dont be alarmed it looks slightly different but trust me it is the correct one. Its all i run in my truck
