Default MAF Sensor

Have any of you with B2600s ever replaced this part? Did you notice any difference such as improved gas mileage?

I haven't replaced the MAF on my '92 B2600i with automatic and 4wd but I'm interested in knowing about it too. I get TERRIBLE gas mileage - about 15 in the winter and 17 in the summer. That's a variety of types of driving - around town and short hops on the freeway. I don't do hillclimbs or mud runs or any of those things and I have a light foot - outgrew stop light grand prix years ago. I've always chalked the mileage up to the extra weight of the 4wd - which only gets used a few times in the winter snow. Hey gas went to $3.63 here yesterday and I'm hurting.

Your truck sounds identical to mine. I also get poor mpg. I replaced the head about a year ago and the motor starts and runs great. I cleaned the MAF with MAF cleaner but it didn't seem to make any difference. I'm running 235/75-15 tires. This size is listed on the label on the door jam. I'm going to check for vacuum leaks again. I connected a vacuum gauge once and did the test oulined in the service manual and everything was within spec. This 2.6 should do better. Even with city driving I think it should do much better than 15 mpg.

with a mass air flo sensor it will effect the mpg but usualy when it goes your engine will spit and sputter.but not always the case you could be losing it gradualy.i recommend you get a engine computer diagnostic done it will save you from part swaping.
