Hood Cable Snapped
 

Hi all,

I have a slight problem in that my battery is flat and my hood release cable is snapped (inside the truck but there's nothing left to pull on with pliers). Can anyone advise me how to get the hood open ?

Search on YouTube on how to open locked hood or locked bonnet. Most use a wire coat hanger bent into a hook on the end.

That said: I went and looked at my 1988; you can see the cable (unless it broke right at the latch itself) through the front grille grid. I'd try to grab this cable with said bent hanger and pull towards you. Likely the hood will pop up or the cable will pull out towards you.

There's always a way.
