Default Help!

1994 b4ooo with 110k, 2 wks ago check oil lite came on, level was good but oil had little viscosity and smelled like fuel. Immed changed oil and spark pluggs. 1 wk later check oil lite is flickering only when engine is first started, checked oil and there is a faint smell of gasoline, but still an oily feel. My first feeling is the fuel flow is not being regulated. Engine runs fine at idle and on the road. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Plug colour??? Compression test???? Miileage stats??????? smell exhaust for raw fuel?????? super hot cat???==rich mix==dead cat soon, the extra heat in it melts it. Read some good mechanical books-then you'll understand a bit more. Doesn't take much petrol to heavily dilute engine oil. 2 strokes usually use special oils & parts, but they still wear fast.

The fuel contamination is thinning you're oil. When the engine is cold the clearances are larger and the oil thinner. As the engine heats up you're tollerances come into spec and multi-viscosity oils will thicken allowing you're oil pressure to rise causing the oil temp light to turn off.

I would avoid driving the truck if possable until you can determine the condition of the engine. For some reason you have fuel washing the cylinders or the rings are not sealing. If you must drive it as it is switch to an oil with a thicker winter rating to help avoid low pressure startups.

Cats can tolerate heats far higher than what gasoline can generate. They typically plug up full of carbon when running rich. Pull one appart once, it wills still be intact but will be a solid black brick. A lot of nitrous on the other hand will melt one after a few runs on the 1/4 mile. Pull one of those appart and it will look like wax honeycomb after it's been left in the sun.
