so ive got Two B22's ones an 88 carbed 5 spd the others a 91 FI 5 spd. i just bought a Mazda OEM factory obd1 engine diagnostics tool. Im wondering if this tool will work on both? Where can i get an instruction manual for this item? can someone maybe scan and send me a copy? and will this diagnostics tool hook up to a lap top and where maybe i can get the software for it? You dont need a scan tool for those. Check your manual for the 1 pin connector to ground and count the check engine light flashs

 

It's OBD I there is no fancy computer readouts, it spits out a number and that's all you get. There are only about 10-15 codes and like said above you can get those by grounding the test pin and turning the truck on. You can hook it up and put it into switch monitor function but that is just a fancy test routine to tell you if all you're switches are working. That can be done just as easily with a DMM.

If both trucks have a green 6 pin test connector near the green 1 pin test connector then the tester might work on both trucks.
