found 87 B2600, but has issues
I have always been a full-size pickup sorta guy but I bought myself a 1987 Mazda B2600 a few weeks back in search of improved mileage = lower fuel expense. Especially, since my new job includes much more driving.
I actually started enjoying the little buster. With just under 100,000 miles and in fair shape I thought it was a good find for $700. Though it seemed to be lacking some power, accelerating slowly and crawling up the hills. Eventually, I noticed itperformed a littlebetter right after re-fueling and decided I'd get the tank flushed out.Idecided it wasnothing that couldn't wait till I had a little extra cash after the holidays. So I replaced the fuel filter that was very dirty.
Now it has become undriveable. It doesn't seem to want to go. If I go slow and careful I can get up to 20-25 but always starts throwing a fit until I have to stop. If I wait a minute, I can go again and repeat.
That was yesterday morning 10 miles from town. It took me an hour and a half to get home!
I'm thinking it is a carburetor or fuel delivery problem.
I've heard there is a fuel filter at the carburetor. Can someone tell me where it is located.? I removed the fuel line to the carb but found nothing.
Ihave another Mikuni Solex carb from a 82 Dodge d50. Does anyone know wether I can swap that out with the one on my 87 B2600? The one on my Mazda has more wire connections leading from it.
Thanks for any help I can get
