Default Best way to mount new external electric fuel pump? 1988 b2600

I just bought an 88 b2600. It had been sitting for 3 years. Replaced plugs, wires cap rotor, fuel filter etc. I just did a weber conversion 32/36 and got rid of the mikuni. While doing so I found that the external mounted pump in engine compartment rated at 1.5-4 psi isn't even showing any pressure on a 1-15psi guage and is only pumping 1 quart per minute or 15 gals an hour. The carb idles and runs ok, but seems starved for fuel when under acceleration and getting into the secondaries. From what I have read a Carter 4070 electric fuel pump is the awnser 4 psi at 60-70 gph and no need for a regulator. Any ideas on how plumb this baby in? I'm thinking on the frame rail just after the filter off the tank. Seem to have ok flow even while pulling through defunct oe in tank pump. Can I run through original lines or should i run all new lines. Thanks.

I had the same problem. I moved the fuel pump to the frame rail right at the back of the fuel tank. I had to replace the soft lines. They are cheap and easy. No problems since. Just make sure all you wiring connection are sealed any water or mud will short it out and leave ya sitting in a mud hole.

honesly the external fuel pump is a jimmy rigged solution to get aorund town. many times fuel pump are good for one thing.. to pump, the farther it has to pull the fuel up before it can push it to your carb, the less of everything you will get. its 100$ to replace the internal fuel pump, all you have to do is take off the 6 bolts that connect the bed to the frame. lift the bed with a friend and have a 2x4 to hold it up. clean outside surface and install internal fuel pumpp
the external one has a good chance of getting vapor lock, and since it has to pull fuel through the old non working fuel pump, it makes it work harder than it can handle. so it starving for gas on acceleration is likely
