b2300 one click is heard when trying to start...
Hello everyone,
when trying to start my 1997 b2300, i get a single click and nothing more. Checked and recharged battery. Checked starter solenoid and starter. Both are working properly. Unusually, sometimes it will crank and then the click occurs again. I have deduced it down from the starter relay to further back to the ignition cylinder. Oddly as well, is when I try to start the engine, I will get surges and power loss at the steering column. After removing steering column covers, I noticed that after attempting to start the engine rapid clicking that sounds like the indicator on "crack" occurs whether key is in ignition cylinder or not. Strange. There is a wire that leads out of the ignition cylinder to a relay or switch of some kind on the opposite side of the ignition switch. That is where the clicking seem to be coming from. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or test to further deduce possibilities would be greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all!

Sounds like an ignition switch problem, but not sure. The other thing is it could be an after market alarm that has gone bad, they do from time to time and if it is the type of alarm that disables the ignition it could do that. I've never seen a b2300 or heard if it but the part you described sounds like it's not part of the car and could be a malfunctioning alarm.

Not sure what you've done to check the battery buy that would still be my best guess. Sometimes they show as having 12V but its the Amps that are the problem and hence they dont have the kick to start the car. Try getting a jump from another car - it she turn and starts then its deffo the battery
