b2200 overheating
 

Hey guys i have a 1988 mazda b2200 150,000 mile on it i cant figure out why it over heats it has a new thermostat water pump radiator and hoses after about 8 miles it gradually overheats iv had it a few months and it dosnt smoke or use any water im at a loss

#1 assumption in this reply is that there is no head gasket issues, no oil the coolant, no coolant in the oil, and you already said no loss of coolant.

That said: these trucks can be tricky to bleed all the air out of the cooling system, and that's important. I jack up the front end, remove radiator cap, run the engine with heater on, and keep topping off with 50/50 coolant until it won't take any more or about 20 minutes. Then I add the radiator cap; if your cap is old, I'd recommend a new Stant cap.

For what you're describing, won't matter a lick whether your thermostat is 180F, 192F, etc., as long as it's working and installed in the right orientation.

So today I'm going to the junk yard to change my truck to a electric Fan and thermostat .. should I buy a new thermostat or pick one up at the yard.. how much are they new ??? .. and where is the thermostat located on my truck.. it a inline 4 ...2.2 L Carbed.. I did turn down the idle because it was at a high rev.. making it to sound like the lifter lashed needed to be maintenceed. And blowing out blue smoke on a cold start for about 2 mins but cloud up the alleyway behind my truck alot..but that all went away when I turned down the idle.. I was thinking on changing the clutch fan for new one but I wanna put an electric one from the battery to a toggle on my dash.. any ideas on which electric Fan will fit snug or with little fixing ..

The B2200 will cool fine with a stock good fan clutch and radiator. Fan shrouding needs to be there. For better cooling, the 2-row radiator - as used in the automatic transmission models - will bolt right in and provide extra cooling. So I wouldn't mess with electric fans.

I use a Stant thermostat (192F) and I'm in Arizona. The thermostat is located on front passenger side of the cylinder head; I typically jack up front right of truck as it's a horizontal mount thermostat, so that tilt hlds it in place as you install. Then I bleed out the air as I previously described.
