Default 90 Mazda B2200 Pick up

Just got this truck from a buddy of mine. Wanna see if I can get it working but I have never owned a vehicle with a Carburetor in it. The pickup starts and stays around 2k RPMs unless you take the gas then it just dies unless you keep it around 1500 and after it warms up its good to go. And ideas where I should start? I read something about a adjusting the carburetor with a screw driver but not sure. Thanks for the help.

Does it have a manual or automatic choke?

Does it have the uber-complicated stock carb or a replacement Weber? How's the linkage and the return spring?

That's how a carbureted engine is. They go full choke, then back off a little at a time. Sometimes they will stay at fast idle until the throttle is tapped.
GOOD LUCK!!!! My father was a mechanic all his life. He always joked that "carburetor" was French for "don't f##k with it". He was right. Make one wrong adjustment, and your grandchildren will be trying to get it right.
Learn all you can from a good manual or an OLD mechanic.

Remember - the choke heater element wire plugs into the rear of the alternator, check that.
