83 v6 blazer alternator is 89 b2200
Hi guys, I recently got an 89 b2200 with a dead alternator in it. No shops have the one fro the truck so I tried to make one from an old chevy blazer fit. The pulley actually lines up fairly well so I so drove the truck with it.
My problem is I am getting no voltage from it. Im sort of guessing that it has something to do with the wires that were on the back of the old alternator which I cant plug in on this one.
What are those wires for? and it there any way I can make this one work and charge my battery?
thanks for any help.
Will.

lol, those wires are how it communicates with your computer and what tells it to turn on and turn off, there is either an external or internal voltage regulator in vehicles that allows it to work properly. You may be able to rig it up, but I would suggest just going to get one from the dealership, or having that alternator rebuilt.
