I want to change out my automatic locking hubs to manual locking hubs, i looked at it all and came up with this. I would need to change out the front whole chunk and cv axles. Because the old front chunk runs off a vaccum, that locks the front mechanism. And the manual locking one, locks in by the hubs, not the chunk. Any suggestions. its hard to explain. let me try it again.. The automatic lockin one would i need to pull it out, and put the whole other chunk under it...?

 

all i did with mine(1991) was made the rfw switch engage all the time (played with the vacumm line's) this locks the front diff
and took off the drive flanges and replaced with the locking hubs from the 88 i have for parts
it has worked no problems all summer

i have not looked into replacing the driver side extension housing on the diff to the driver side cv axle yet but it should work as the cv axles are the same for the 88 and 91
