1991 Mazda B2200

Having issues with the fuel pump control unit and need help. My truck was running great and the fuel pump stopped working. I replace the pump and this did not solve the issue. After some research, I realized the fuel pump control unit was bad. I purchased a new part and within 5 min. the new control unit burned up. Please help, what would cause the fuel pump control unit to keep going out?

Your B2200 must either be automatic transmission or EFI to have an electric fuel pump setup. I'd post your question at MazdaTrucking.com as there seems to be better knowledge base there for this type of issue.

1991 Mazda Extra Cab, B2200, gas, Auto, O/D.

My truck has 251,000+ miles, had trouble with fuel problems, left me stranded a couple of times. Wouldn't start, wasn't getting fuel. Thought maybe the exterior fuel filter underneath the truck behind the gas tank, so changed that, it started right up, then a couple weeks later, stranded again. Ended up putting a new fuel pump in the tank. Seems to have fixed the problem, as I've had no more fuel problems. Had the truck since 92, had 11K miles on when I got it, hope it last longer than I do, love the Mazda truck. There are a lot of replacement parts out there that are bad too, had 4 A/C compressor put in under warranty before they found a good one; so just because they replaced a fuel pump, it could have been bad too.
