No Spark

I have read everything that I could before posting here, so I don't want to have everyone seem like I'm lazy and don't want to do research.

This is for a 1990 MX6 GT. The previous owner/my friend said the motor was (what sounded like) misfiring when in boost and at 3k rpm, but ran fine otherwise. A week later, it just died on him while driving it. We had it towed to my house to find that there is no spark coming from the coil. Also, when the car is in the "on" position, the coil gets burning hot and I get the trouble code 1 (no ignition pulse) from what I've read.

I've tried 3 different distributors, 2 different igniters, a brand new coil, and another ECU. I've also tested continuity from the 4 wires that go to the distributor, tested the 4 wires going to the coil, and the igf and igt on the igniter to the ECU plugs and all wires got continuity in the correct places.

If I take the plug that goes to the coil with the 4 wires with the car in the "on" position and unplug that plug and plug it back in real quick repeatedly, the coil will fire, but not otherwise. While messing with the car, the coil has randomly fired 2 or 3 times on it's own.

I've looked through the Chilton book and another one I have, but none of them tell me which wires should have power, ground, or how many volts. I think it may be a wiring issue, but I don't know of any ways to test each wire to figure out where it's bad in the harness, if it is.

I'm out of ideas and open for any suggestions or ideas.

I also have a thread on mx6.com and if you want to look at that here is the link http://www.mx6.com/forums/1g-mx6-gen...-no-spark.html
