Mx-3 engine swap help

Alright well i'm 100% new at mazda's I am a honda man but once I seen a mazda mx3 it was so close to a mix between honda crx and honda civic hatch back i had to have it. I drove 5 hours away to get it only one i could find without rust and beat to hell. Well the cars im mint shape besides the engine isnt to powerful so I'm wanting to do a nice swap. I have a the dohc 4 banger and want to trade swap it out with a bp has like 30 more horsepower and easy to find i would love to get the 2.5 probe in there but honestly i have no idea what im doing. For the bp thats in ford escort Gt what all would i need from it to do the swap? I know the engine and my trans will bolt right up to it but what else do i need? On honda's you need the ecu and shift linkage ( i know i wont need that cuz my trans bolts right up i did some research) and a bunch more parts... So if anyone has done this swap or has an idea what all ill need that would be sweet.

What year is ur mx3:cause if its a 94 and up with a 1.6 dohc u should keep it it a strong motor and if u want more power any thing for a miata in the same year will fit that motor my is a 95 and I have 198xxx on it and I beat the piss out of that motor and it won't give so take it fromme. Keep it

The 2.5 v6 is a hard swap. Tucker has it close to right. The escort Gt engine would be good, its designed the same as the DoHC 1.6. If your really wanting some power, sell the one you have now, buy a 1994 MX-3 GS. It will have the V6 installed, swap it with the probe 2.5, chip it, CAI, high flow cat, and flowmaster exhaust you'll be pushing 185 hp.
