Mazda MX-6 cuts out after about a minute...please help
I bought a 1995 mazda mx-6 in January, $2500, 100,000 miles and its been going fine up until now. I start the engine, and it immediately starts stuttering / choking, and after about a minute it will just cut out completely. Happens each time i start the engine. I can just about drive it before it cuts out and as long the gas is down, its fine, but when i come to a stop, it will begin to stutter again and most of the time will cut out. There is also a lot of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Does anyone know what the problem might be or what i should check out / replace before taking to a mechanic? The previous owner said the transmission might need replacing and the O/D light used to keep flashing on the dashboard. The only thing i've done to the car is change the oil. Thanks |

Black smoke indicates excessive fuel, blue smoke would be oil.
I'd check your fuel pressure and your injectors. If I understand correctly, at idle it wants to die, once you're up to speed and on the gas you're OK? |
problem you have with cutting out is consistent of overworked suction control valve due contamination or excessive filtration or plainly wear and tear . contact 01422 387800 for further assistence
