1994 Mazda MX6 2.0L

Hi,

I have a chance to pick up a 94 MX6 w/ manual tranny and want to know the following:

How reliable are these cars?

Any major problem to look for off the bat?

The car looks great and runs great the only problem that I could see were the ripped CV boots and a little rust on the sun roof. Thanks in advance for the info.

Mazda makes a very good reliable car. You should not have many problems long as the maintenance has been kept up. Have the fluids and filters been changed on a regular basis? Has the timing belt been changed recently? Is the asking price fair? The CV boots are easily replaced long as the joints don't "click" while turning.

I've not heard of any major problems specific to the car. As with any used car, check it out well.

I did get a chance to drive it and did notice some cliking will turning. The asking price is $2500 but have not check the KBB for a price yet. I also had a chance to check the spark plugs and they look great no buring oil or water. Air filter seem clean. Any other advice and/or price on the CV shaft and boots for both sides?

I checked Parts America and you can get the CV driveshafts for $60 each, totally remanufactured and ready to go. Don't know if you can replace them yourself, or if you would have to pay a shop, but easy to replace.

I don't know how prices range in your state, but it sounds fair if the car is in good shape.

I've done CV replacements already on Toyota and Hondas so this should be right up my alley. So you say the price is about right. I am thinking of asking him to let it go for $2000 just to see what he says.

Thanks for the info.

Joe
