Timing Chain clarification
Hi all. First post here. Long time lurker. I've researched a lot about the coil packs here so I must say THANK YOU for all the great info here.
ok. Wife has a 2004 MPV. From the searches I did I see it's a Timing Chain (great!). And, it also appears that they should be good for 250k miles (also great!). Can anyone just confirm this for me? No issues with the van now, but have 90k miles and don't want to miss any service intervals on the timing... Thank you! Eric |
Timing Chain
You are right in thinking the timing chain SHOULD last at least three times longer than a timing belt. That is one reason why I make certain my vehicles have timing chains and not timing belts. There are other components, like the tensioner, that may not last as long, but you won't know until they break down. Meanwhile, you can drive worry-free when it concerns the timing chain.

Great. I appreciate the reply. Being that the van is my wife's I want to make sure I'm not missing any maintenance... Will target 240k miles to change the chain.
Thank you. |
