Ok, so the head unit in our 96 is ready to be replaced and upgraded with a cd player. I already have the player, wiring harness and "Install Kit". However, I can't figure out exactly how to get the old one out. I removed the front panel, by way of first removing the glove box and panel under the steering column. there are 2 screws that look like they should be all that is holding the stock head unit it. However, I pulled those and could get it to budge or see any other screws/bolts to remove. So whats next. I would like to have this done by the weekend. Thanks, Sean

If the audio unit is the original equipment design then you should not need to pull anything apart to remove the radio. On both side of the radio are hole covers that run the vertical length of the unit. Remove the covers with a small screwdriver and underneath you will find 4 or 5 small holes. You need to get two sets of Ford style radio removal tools from parts store, insert into the holes with tips of tools aiming away from theradioand flex tool handlesoutward to release the radio spring clips. Radio will then pull right out.
