Radiator leaking
I'm not too sure of this.. But i got a slightly bad leak.. only happens when car is turned off, or so it seems... Theres that little tube looking thing on the radiator, driver side.. Coolant is flushing from that.. I am not sure yet if that can be replaced or if its the whole radiator needing to be replaced.. or if its pressurizing so much its doing that.... Need help with this asap if anyone can give me a hand that would be good.

If you want to try a VERY temporary "fix" to stop the leak put in 3-6 egg whites but only the whites in the coolant when its hot and all at once so get it to temp with the radiator cap off so you don't have a steam explosion. Have 3 eggs in my 323 until I can get a new radiator or a used one from the junkyard but it sealed/plugged up the 2 tubes and top tank crimp that were leaking only at high coolant temps/pressures and even then it wasnt much more than steam coming out.
How small of a tube/hose are we talking? Is it the overflow/expansion tank tube? Can you take a picture? |
I'll see about getting a pic tomorrow, but it isn't a hose.. it looks like part of the radiator itself.. its on driver side, kinda looking like i might have to replace radiator...

With modern aluminum/plastic radiators, after so many heat/cool cycles the plastic tanks get brittle. This happened to my wife's Saturn a few years back. Some Barr's Stop Leak "helped" for a very short time, but not long. I ordered and replaced the radiator as soon as I could and when I did found one of the plastic side tanks was completely split... about 8" and was terribly brittle which is probably why the fix didn't hold for long. In fact it may have made it worse under pressure. Just some food for thought. |
