Greetings from San Francisco!

I am 19 years old.

The first car I’m still driving to this day is an ‘03 Mazda MPV LX. The odometer says 165,371 miles last time I drove it. Before the last time it visited the auto service place, it was running pretty rough and the engine light was on. On August 2018, I discovered that it turned out to be that all the spark plugs and coils, as well as the original gasket were bad, so they had to be replaced because the engine was misfiring.

In terms of modifications, it has a few on it so far: an aftermarket double DIN stereo system and a backup camera that works with it.

The aftermarket stereo itself is give or take 9 years old and I think it’s time for a newer one. I’m thinking of one that supports Android Auto. However, I don’t know if it will support my current backup cam. I want to point out that the current aftermarket stereo had been installed 2 owners before me. Also enginewise, is the 3-liter an interference engine? And in terms of what keeps the crank and cams in sync, is it a belt or chain? Pray it’s not a belt, as I will have to replace that more often than a chain. I need to know this because if I plan to have the the current aftermarket stereo replaced, I want to keep it and have it continue running for another possible 40,000-100,000 miles.

I have some more questions regarding a new stereo, but I will save that for a later post.
Sorry that image down below is upside down. Since posting my photos is tricky for me, I will stick to hyperlinks.
