MPV 06 power door failure

MAZDA MPV 2006: While filling up at the gas station, my daughter attempted to open the left power sliding door... while I had the fuel fill door open. We were able to get the power door closed, and tried to reset things by turning the power on and off for the doors. Now when we try to open the power left door, it opens about 2 inches then appears to hit a bar or some kind of locking mechanisms (safety lock?)

The door is not locked. I have tried to replay the events, and attempt to correct the situation according to the manual instructions, but there is no mention of an obstruction to the door (safety lock) that needs to be released... the left door literally hits something as though it is being stopped from hitting the fuel fill door.

(I have checked to make sure we have not placed something in its way) It sounds mechanical.

RE: MPV 06 power door failure

You may have to remove the interior panel between the door and fuel lid to access it. It probably went past the stop and needs physically reset. Just a guess.
