Front end goes "clunk"
 

When turning at slow speed and going over a bump or depression I can hear a "clunk" sound from somewhere up front.
Any thoughts as to the source of this sound?
My first inclination would be something like the axles but am not sure how to diagnose.

well, a few things it could be, the front end has a lot of bushings, which, incase you're not sure, they're rubber, with a metal core usually, and if this rubber wears out, it will let something move, and what you should try, is to check all the bushings in the front end, at joints that is. it could be your strut mount, which is the top of the strut, which bolts to the inner of the fender, under the hood, on each side.
and a way to check the axles, typically, if the axles are bad, the boots will be torn or ripped, etc. you find the axles, and look at both of the boots on them, make sure that's in good shape... etc. anyway, chances are it's bushings or strut mount, instead of axles. axles usually, not always, clunk when starting from a stop, and that's caused by the play, in the worn joints, inside the boots.
