Code P0752 on 2002 MPV
I'm looking for some advice on how to deal with a P0752 code popping up on my 2002 MPV. This car has 57K miles and we are the original owners.
Last week, my wife was driving around town and all the sudden the check engine light came on and she could not get the car to drive over 30 MPH. I don't know much about cars, so when she called I told her to pull over and I had the car towed to a local transmission shop to have them check it out. They told me the scanner indicated a 'solenoid failure' and that they believed this to be caused by contaimination from something breaking down inside the transmission and wanted to rebuild the transmission. I opted out of this option for now and look for a second opinion. When I went and picked up the car from the shop, the check engine light was still on, but the car seemed to drive fine all the way back to my house (~5 miles). I borrowed a scan tool from my neighbor and pulled the code myself and got the P0752 - 'Shift Solenoid A stuck on' as the only code.
So my question is, what are the most reasonable options to get this fixed seeing as the transmission seems to be operational as of now? How easy is it to replace Solenoid A on this car?
Thanks for any help.
