brake pedal noise from inside the car
 

Recently, when i step on the brake pedal to brake i have this squeaky/crackling noise that i hear. This only occurs right when i step on it and i try to trace the problem, and i kind of trace it back to the top of the brake pedal....where theres this rubbery spring shape that covers the "hydraulic" part (not sure how to explain it). I tried to step on it numerous times and the noise might go away for awhile but laters comes back when i try to step on the brakes.

i was wondering if anyone can help me diagnose this problem before taking it to a dealership. im guessing it might just need some lube or something.
